Symbolism:-

 

Southern Cross – Represents North Queensland as part of the Federation of Australia in the Southern Hemisphere.


Tropical Sun – Compass style sun represents the “white heat” of the outback and northern tropics.


Blue Marlin – Represents the Carpentaria Gulf country and North Queensland Coral Sea coastline where the blue marlin's habitat is located.


Colours – Blue (Savoy) and White are the traditional colours for North Queensland sporting teams. Blue for the Coral Sea and the west’s clear blue skies with white for the "white heat" of the outback and northern tropics.


Designer – Edward Cattoni 1980; approved at a meeting of the North Queensland State Party chaired by president Frank Rossiter (Townsville NQ) on 16 October, 1994.
